Visual artist based in Montréal
Gavlois is a 29 year old visual artist based in Montréal, with a rich and diverse artistic background. Born in New Caledonia, he began his practice through tagging and graffiti, a discipline he has passionately pursued for over a decade.
​
At 18, he moved to Canada to study Art History and Visual Arts a decisive turning point in his artistic journey that broadened his horizons and deeply enriched his approach to painting and the world around him.
​
His work navigates a balance between the spontaneous gesture of graffiti and the emergence of silhouettes that inhabit and guide his abstract forms.
​
Influenced by the poetry of the “accursed poets” and by the art of calligraphy, he brings these languages into dialogue, intertwining them into a single breath. From this encounter arises what he calls a “graphic poem,” where abstraction and figures coexist in a sensitive and expressive tension.
